Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ – SwapWebP Converter

Last updated: June 2025

General

Which output formats are supported?

SwapWebP converts any .webp file to JPG, PNG or BMP. Simply pick your desired format from the dropdown before clicking Convert.

Do you store or upload my images?

No. All processing happens locally in your browser, so your files never leave your device.

Is there a size or batch limit?

There are no hard limits because everything runs client-side. The only restriction is the amount of memory your device can allocate to the browser tab.

Languages & Compatibility

Which languages are available?

The interface supports: English, Español, Français, Deutsch, Português, Italiano, Русский, 日本語, 한국어, 简体中文 and العربية. Use the 🌐 icon to switch.

Can I convert files offline?

Yes. Once the page is cached, you can reopen SwapWebP without an internet connection and continue converting images.

Which browsers are supported?

Any modern browser with Canvas and WebP decode capability: Chrome 88+, Edge 88+, Firefox 90+, Safari 14+, Opera, Brave and most mobile equivalents.

Quality & Roadmap

Why does my downloaded JPEG look softer?

JPEG is a lossy format. Slight softness at the default 80 % quality slider value is normal. For crisper results, move the slider to 90 %+ or pick PNG for lossless output.

Do you plan to support AVIF or GIF output?

AVIF output is on the roadmap for Q4 2025 once cross-browser encoding APIs mature. GIF is unlikely due to file-size bloat and lack of transparency support.

Troubleshooting & Contact

My file won’t convert — what should I do?

First, ensure the file extension is .webp and the file isn’t corrupt. Extremely large 16-bit or animated WebPs aren’t supported yet.
